Cupping is an ancient form of treatment popular in Europe, the Middle East and Asia often used in conjunction with Acupuncture.
Air is extracted from glass cups enabling them to stick to the skin which then loosens tight muscles. In some countries it is used in the treatment of colds and bronchitis. Cupping causes bruising which is more severe when the muscles are tight but as the muscles improve, the cups can be left on for an extended period with hardly any bruising. Commonly used independently or as part of acupuncture treatment.
We have found that the use of cupping along with conventional physiotherapy treatments has accelerated the healing of patients and brings them relief from pain. In combination with acupuncture, the results are considerably better than normal physio treatments alone.
